My Grandson
My Grandson

I look into my grandson’s innocent face,
Keen for him to learn to tie his shoelace.
I look into my grandson’s innocent face,
Hoping he’ll have refinement and grace.
I look into my grandson’s innocent face,
Wanting him to master the double bass.
I look into my grandson’s innocent face,
Worried he’ll be drawn into the rat race.
I look into my grandson’s innocent face,
Pondering if he’ll ever travel into space.
I look into my grandson’s innocent face,
Confident he’ll win an Olympic race.
I look into my grandson’s innocent face,
Hopeful that a perfect life he’ll embrace.
