Storm Kathleen

by

Sue Farley

In April 2024 Storm Kathleen raged the country. In Llandudno, the pebbles and rocks on the beach were hurled with such ferocity that the promenade was covered with a layer of debris. The following day the council replaced the rocks back onto the beach using small JCBs. It took them two days to complete.

Kathleen had arrived in style-
her grand entrance took us by surprise.
Her mood was ferocious, angry and dark
she certainly knew how to make her mark.
In her tantrum she threw rocks to the prom in a heap,
rocks that earlier had been quietly asleep.
White horses galloped back to the shore,
she commanded the sand to dance to the fore.
By daylight, her anger and temper controlled
but she left the day in turmoil - heavy and cold.
