Skylark
by
Helen Scott
Helen is from the Wirral. She has written around 70 poems, each stimulated by her experiences. She wrote this for her Mother who at the time was in a Nursing Home in the country suffering with Dementia .
The most uplifting sound I ever heard,
T’is the skylark singing on high.
To lie back and listen on a warm summer’s day,
To have wings to fly up in the sky.
To fly up so high,
To sing for so long.
That amazing little bird,
Must be ever so strong.
I hope when you hear this,
My darling dear mum.
It will lift up your heart,
And you’ll never feel glum.
