Why do reports ask Joe Public for their views?
I can’t generalise the opinion of a person in the street.
It’s a singularly subjective outlook we are getting.
When I see this I want to vote with my feet.

It’s laziness on the part of the reporters.
It’s so easy to ask a person their position.
But it means not one iota to me or you.
From this poem you can see I’m on a mission.

I want reporters to work harder.
To seek a more authoritative view.
To gather a more collective opinion.
Rather than just from a random few.

This would give me a more solid foundation.
To which I can compare my own understanding.
Then I’d be much more likely.
To hold a view that is indubitably upstanding.
