A Stargazing Man
I love to scan the skies. I’m a star gazing man.
Staring at the cosmos all night I find painless.
I know my andromeda and my nebula.
I can tell you how many light years to Uranus.
My celestial coordinates guide me through life.
Seeing a total eclipse really turns me on.
Locating a faraway galaxy or an asteroid belt
Is much better than the lottery being won.
I’m up there with the stargazers of old.
There’s Copernicus, Keppler, Hubble and me.
Carl Sagan, Stephen Hawking and Patrick Moore.
Galileo, Halley and Herschel are another three.
Constellations and the cosmos are what we probe.
A pulsar, an event horizon and a black hole we seek.
Each night I have my eye glued to the telescope.
It’s like water off a duck’s back when they call me a geek.
If I ever saw the return of Halley’s comment I think I’d die.
A supermoon lunar eclipse would have me in a such a state.
For another Asteroid to pass quite close to the earth
I don’t think I’m going to be able to wait.
For now I’m stuck inside this telescope.
If I look left I see beyond the sky.
I glimpse a wonderful white dwarf.
If I look right, all I see is a gigantic human eye.
