Our Friend Gerry

Our friend Gerry is singing with the angels.
Watching her perform we all had a ball.
Songs of Liverpool tugging at our heart strings.
Songs about soldiers, and a woman loved by all.

Its begun to rain and that’s the angels crying.
The sound of thunder is their feet a-tapping.
A lightning strike is a heavenly spotlight.
That deafening noise is everyone clapping.

Gerry Ffrench, you’ll be profoundly missed.
Your musical legacy will resound still.
More than that you were generous and kind.
Having you as a friend was such a joyous thrill.

Sing your heart out Gerry, we’ll all be listening.
We’ll hear your concerts and stories evermore.
Thank-you for all the happiness you gave.
It’s undeniably our loss we won’t see you anymore.
