16. Mist Over the Mersey

Mist over the Mersey, in the early morning sun
A dark night has ended, another day begun
And there's a time for loving and a time for sorrow too
A time, my love, for leaving you

Mist over the water, as we make our way to sea
I recall those treasured memories, those of you and me
And I recall the sweet freshness of the season when we met
As time passes on we’ll soon forget

Mist over the Mersey, in the early morning sun
A dark night has ended, another day begun
And there's a time for loving and a time for sorrow too
A time, my love, for leaving you

Mist over the water, and though I never said
It grieved me more than I can say to find our love was dead
And without a word, I left your side; I wonder if you knew
I tell you now, I'll always worship you

Mist over the water, as we make our way to sea
I recall those treasured memories, those of you and me
And I recall the sweet freshness of the season when we met
As time passes on we’ll soon forget

And though you never said so, I think you really see
That a new love will grow, love, where the old love used to be
For life it must go on, love, like the ever-ebbing sea
That washes away the memories

Mist over the Mersey, in the early morning sun
A dark night has ended, another day begun
And there's a time for loving and a time for sorrow too
A time, my love, for leaving you
A time, my love, for leaving you
