I Blame Jeans for the Demise of Our Society

When men wore grey trousers life was hunky-dory.
When denim became prevalent it all went wrong.
When jeans were pulled on standards were dropped.
Underwear now is little more than a thong.

There are piercings and tattoos and funny looking hair.
Brylcreem, a DA and a comb have gone forever.
Flat caps and braces are to be seen no more.
We used see men always wearing ties; now never.

It’s the fault of jeans I say, they triggered our downfall.
And it was double-denim that compounded our fate.
It got even worse with holes in jeans and ragged edges.
Now I fear the Genie is out of the bottle – it’s all too late.
