When I'm Not Here
I won’t be here when my kids are old.
To help them through any plight.
What I can do while I’m still here,
Is prepare them so they get it right.
That’s my job regardless of their ages.
To build in them thoughtful choices.
To shape their resilience and resolve,
And for them to have powerful voices.
I want to model what they can become.
Considerate, loving parents themselves.
Who pass on these traits to their kids,
And can wallpaper and build some shelves.
