Things I'll Miss
Things I'll Miss

I’m sad when I think about me dying
The things I’m not going to see
The things that are still to be conceived
Like time travel and telepathy

I’ll miss out on full renewable energy
Drone deliveries and motorways that never jam
Planes and trains that can never crash
Another Englishman winning a grand slam

I’ll not see walls that will decorate themselves
And species that never become extinct
A robot catering for your every whim
And a politician being succinct

I won’t be in time for prescription windscreens
For rubber bicycles you’ll be able to blow up
For Pink Floyd’s new album, the Dark Side of Venus
And taking your brain in for a service and a tune up

I’d have loved hedges that cut themselves
Kids clothing that grows as they do
Taps that dispense water and beer
And buying things without having to queue

I’ll not be able to have self-tying shoelaces
To own a completely transparent fridge
To hear my dog’s barking translated to English
And hover cars replacing the need for a bridge

Imagine viewing holographic television
And being able to be in the cast of Corrie
To be with your parents when they were kids
And being so right you never have to say sorry

I’ll not be there to record my dreams to a USB
To send my thoughts wirelessly to my printer
Turning calories in food either on or off
To be able to have sunshine in an English winter

I’ll miss the fun of being born able to swim
The total elimination of chicken pox
Houses being built on the ocean floor
But most of all, Russia being put back in its box
