Schools I would love to have attended.
The fun there would have been wonderful.
I’m pretty sure I would have been befriended.

I would have been involved in all sorts of capers.
Sending the teachers up and acts of defiance.
I would have been up before the headteacher,
And threatened with expulsion for non-compliance.

Climbing on desks and flying paper planes.
Wearing my tie around my head.
Ignoring all the teachers’ requests.
And claiming I’d been misled.

Mythical schools were dreams for us all.
Living was so, so simple then,
Until real life got in the way,
And children became women and men.
