Nature vs Nurture
Nature vs Nurture

My parents grew me and their traits I have too.
My Mum’s tired looks and my Dad’s world-view.
His same awkward gait, my Mum’s quiet grumbling.
Her tendency to cry, his propensity for mumbling.

Society has shaped me through schooling and friends.
Sculpting a love of music and an aptitude with pens.
Life’s rich experiences have played their part well.
Something, when growing up I couldn’t foretell.

Which of me is innate and which of me moulded?
I can only answer that after life has unfolded.
I still walk like my Dad and I cry like my Mum.
I’ve learned self-reflection after talking to a chum.

Of course, I’m a blend of both nature and nurture.
Analysing it further would just be self-torture.
We all have a mix but the balance may be distinctive.
Some of it learned and some of it instinctive?
