My Life as a Book
If lives are books then mine is dazzling.
It’s far-reaching and a tour de force.
It has me in tears and it has me in raptures.
I can’t put it down. I am the hero of course.
There are revelations on every page.
Peaks and troughs, sadnesses and joys.
Escapades, mischief and absolute havoc,
And plenty of times when I've lost my poise.
A teacher said that I’d become a leader.
People do follow me but only out of curiosity.
I think I’d have been a rather decent manager,
But sadly, one prone to some verbosity.
The book might be in the one-pound basket.
It might be a bestseller, who can tell?
For me, of course, it totally priceless.
A story that no one could ever foretell.
If turned into a film who would play me?
Stephen Fry or maybe Sir John Gielgud?
Perhaps no one quite so intellectual.
Maybe Charlie Chaplin or Mr Bean would?
