Life is a Pendulum
Things come and things go.
Before long they’re retro.
Life is a pendulum you know.
Every year there’s a birthday.
It’s the circle of life they say.
Rather like Groundhog Day.
I’m shaving, it’s a chore
Just like the day before
And tomorrow once more.
Here we go once again
Just like a bicycle chain
Or a return journey by train.
Stock markets fall and rise.
A loss will be no surprise
But you may get a huge prize.
Mullets will return for sure
Along with haute couture
And songs by The Cure.
Fashions return, such as flares.
Forget fashion, who cares?
Wear them till they need repairs.
Nothing is new, so people say
Till we get to judgement day
Then I’ll ask for an action replay.
